Amelie

This song came as a source of validation and hope. On the one hand, it strengthened the small voice within me that pled me to ignore those who blamed and judged me for what had happened, and to see me as the victim I was. It begged me to be compassionate with myself. I hadn’t known. As the song says, all I had ever wanted was for my knees to tremble, to fall in love. The rest, was not on me. On the other hand, through the weakening of this guilt, the song also called for the romantic Heather to come back. It was not all lost, it said, ‘the One’ is still out there. Love is still a possibility.

“Amelie”

o sólo busco (Oh oooh oh)
Que me tiemblen las piernas
Que seas de esas
Que nadie recomienda

Yo sólo busco (Oh oooh oh)
Que nadie lo entienda
Que nos rajen la espalda al pasar
Que nos siga la prensa

Encendernos con las manos
Fue más de la cuenta
Y yo que creía que estaba
Que estaba de vuelta

Aviones a punto de salir
Pasiones de gitanos
Pequeña sonrisa de
Amelie Me tienes ganado

Yo sólo busco (Oh oooh oh)
Que me tiemblen las piernas
Que seas de esas
Que nadie recomienda

Yo sólo busco (Oh oooh oh)
Que nadie lo entienda
Pero cuando esté roto escuchar
Que merece la pena

Encendernos con las manos
Fue más de la cuenta
Y yo que creía que estaba
Que estaba de vuelta

Aviones a punto de salir
Pasiones de gitanos
Pequeña sonrisa de Amelie
Me tienes ganado

Canciones a punto de parir
Nacieron un verano
Pequeña sonrisa de Amelie
Me tienes cagado

Aviones a punto de salir
Pasiones de gitanos
Pequeña sonrisa de
Amelie Me tienes ganado

(Spanish)

I just look
For my legs to tremble
For you to be one of those
No one recommends

I just look
For no one to understand
For our backs to be slit when passing
For the press to follow us

To light each other with our hands
Was too much
And I thought I was
That I was back

Planes about to set off
Gypsies’ passions
Amelie’s little smile
You have won me

I just look
For my legs to tremble
For you to be one of those
No one recommends

I just look
For no one to understand
But when I am broken to hear
That it’s worth it

To light each other with our hands
Was too much
And I thought I was
That I was back

Planes about to set off
Gypsies’ passions
Amelie’s little smile
You got me shitting myself

Songs about to give birth
They were born one summer

Amelie’s little smile
You got me figured out

Planes about to set off
Gypsies’ passions
Amelie’s little smile
You have won me

Felszalott a Páva

In Hungary, the peacock is taken as a symbol of eternal love, freedom and purity. This song was created by Zoltán Kodály based on another traditional song written by Endre Andy. It is intended as a call for a change and freedom.

Whenever I sing this song, I feel like my soul sets on fire. The world turns red. My blood flow increases in speed, rushing fiercely through my veins. I become a warrior, announcing through the music that I have not lost hope, that I am armed and ready for battle to regain the freedom I have lost.

Felszalott a Páva

Leszálott a páva vármegye hazára,
De nem ám arabok szabadulására.

The Peacock Takes Off

The peacock has landed on the county hall,
But not to free the prisoners
